S.01About us

We start at the problem, long before anyone asks what it should be built with.

origama is a digital product studio. We design, build and run our own apps. Each one started with a problem we ran into ourselves and thought deserved a better digital answer. Alongside them we take on a small number of projects with companies and organisations, wherever our products or our people genuinely fit.

Computer science and project management, so whoever writes the code is in the room when the plan is made — and the plan survives contact with it.

Marketing and computer science, which is why the interface and the words around it are drawn by the same person instead of handed between two teams.

Computer science and banking, so the questions a regulated client asks late get asked at the start, before anything is built around the wrong answer.

S.04Principles

How we shape the work, from the first conversation to the app that stays running.

  1. Own friction

Every product starts with friction we ran into ourselves — not with a technology looking for something to sell.

  2. One mindset

Beer pong, moving, music, sport. Unrelated fields, the same question every time: where is the friction, and what would be better?

  3. Purposeful design

Design is not decoration added at the end. It is how a product gets understood in the first two seconds.

  4. For people

Software has to adapt to the way people already work — not the other way around.

  5. Not everything

We build what makes sense. If an idea does not fit us, we say so instead of taking it on anyway.
